Conference 2021

In 2021 our conference was delivered entirely online.

On Saturday 2nd October, we were delighted to host a panel of 3 fantastic speakers; Michael Rosen, Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason and Prof. Angela Pickard. Our speakers discussed the importance of performance across the three disciplines of music, dance and speech. The session included a panel discussion and also allowed opportunities for questions to be put to the panel from our members.

On Sunday 3rd October, the wonderful Dr. Sharon Watson joined us for our session 'The Festival Movement Post-COVID - securing the future of our Movement'. This session was followed by our members forum which covered the following discussion points:

  • The return of live festivals – Post-COVID challenges to running and adjudicating at a live events:
  • Are online festivals here to stay? Do online festivals create more inclusive performance opportunities, or do they challenge the survival of the live festivals?
  • Reaching out – how do our festivals make sure that they are inclusive and representative of their local communities

The event concluded with 'The Federation at 100 and closing comments', Chair of the Board of Trustees, Steven Roberts outlined our plans for celebrating our history and looking to the next 100 years.

We are pleased to be able to share the event recording with our members.
